Observation, identification and reporting of marine species in the Arabian Peninsula
The primary objective of the Arabian Marine Species Observer (AMSO) programme is to train observers to be able to competently identify, report and monitor the presence of marine species within offshore and coastal areas of the Arabian peninsula, to ensure their safety as part of minimising project ecological impacts. A secondary, but no less important objective, is to add to our knowledge and understanding of these species and their lives in these areas, through acquisition of this information.
AMSO is accredited by the IMarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology) as well as ACTVET (Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training).
