White linear scars and grey bite marks

Tall dorsal fin, slightly curved or triangular

Wide tail flukes with clear notch

Rounded, blunt head with no beak

Long flippers with rounded, blunt tips

Slightly underslung lower jaw, straight line

Light belly with anchor‑shaped pattern

  • Length: Small cetacean reaching roughly 2.1–2.6 metres

  • Group Size: Typically in tight groups of 10–30 animals

  • Key Features: Rounded head, dark body, pale lips and jawline

  • Behaviour: Avoids boats; slow surfacing with low, inconspicuous blows

  • Habitat: Deep tropical to subtropical offshore waters worldwide

  • Conservation Status: Listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List
