Born dark; lighten with age
Tail flukes with inward curve
Smooth, rounded forehead; beak absent
Small mouthline with upward curve
Large, rounded flippers proportionally long

Length: Small porpoise reaching up to two metres

Group Size: Solitary or small groups; occasionally up to fifty

Key Features: No dorsal fin; narrow dorsal ridge with tubercles; rounded head with no clear beak

Behaviour: Very active; darting movements, shy of boats

Habitat: Shallow coastal waters from Taiwan Strait to Japan

Conservation Status: Listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List
