Common Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus)

Dark grey to almost black

Tall, curved dorsal fin mid‑back

Wide, notched horizontal tail fins

Sharp crease between beak and forehead

Short, stout beak with clear crease

Side flippers, moderate size and pointed

Light grey to white

  • Length: Large dolphin measuring roughly 2.3–3.8 metres

  • Group Size: Fission–fusion groups ranging from few to over 100

  • Key Features: Robust body and beak, tall curved fin, gray above white below​
